Description: A 100 acre reservoir holding water from the Stockade Beaver Creek flowing out of the Black Hills. The reservoir is located in a narrow canyon with steep cliffs on the west side, with plenty of pine trees and sage-covered rolling ridges.
|
| The Fishing: Tiger
muskies and walleye were stocked here in the spring of 1996. Other
species include rainbow trout, brown trout, large-mouth bass,
small-mouth bass, and sunfish.
|
| How to get there: Take
US 16 east out of Newcastle for about 5 miles. Turn left at the
historical marker. County Road 5 is accessed from the historical marker,
where the pullout is on the north side of the highway. CR5 starts at the
west end of the pullout. Follow this gravel road for 1 mile.
|
| Additional Information: A concrete boat ramp
is available. Overnight camping is not allowed. LAK Reservoir is on
private land, so fishing here requires written permission from the
landowner. (See previous page). You must have the permit before
accessing the property.
